Wolverhampton Company of Archers Have-A-Go's

Have-a-Go's are primarily intended for large group bookings rather than for individuals, although if there are a number of vacant places we can, on occasion, find room for them.

The sessions are run only in summertime as they are held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 7 to 9pm, and the period from the middle of June until the end of July is the only time of year when there is sufficient light to permit it. As the Have-a-Go's are run on a single evening, they are much less formal events than beginners courses and the emphasis is placed squarely upon maximising enjoyment.

The participants will be divided into groups of four or five and assigned to a target where one of our experienced instructors will introduce them to the basics of archery. There will be a tea break at the half way point, and thereafter the participants will score a small competition, at the end of which there will be medals and applause for the winners and consolation for the losers, in the unlikely event of the victors being magnanimous.

  • Have-a-Go's can only be considered for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people.
  • Juniors are welcome to attend, but must be a minimum of 11 years of age and accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times whilst on the premises.
  • Please refer to our costs page for details on pricing.
  • The course will take place at our grounds on Wergs Hall Road, see the directions page for details.
  • We ask you to remember that have-a-go's are run by members who have volunteered to give up their time for the event and are dependent upon their goodwill.

If you would like to organise a have-a-go, please email the Secretary at secretarywcofa@gmail.com to arrange a date for the convenience of both parties. Be aware that these events are quick to sell out each year, so it is recommended that you request a booking by March at the latest.

Note: Please be aware that we are unable to offer private tuition to anyone who is not a member of Wolverhampton Company of Archers. We can also only consider membership applications from people who have successfully completed a beginners course, either with us or another club with a certificate as proof.
